Investigating metabolic pathways in health and disease

The thematic focus of the lab is to understand how cells and organisms adapt to metabolic stress. We use metabolic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease as model systems of metabolic stress. The objective is to understand the fundamental molecular mechanisms of metabolic diseases with the ultimate goal of developing novel diagnostic tools and treatments.

research Focus

To understand the fundamental molecular mechanisms of metabolic diseases and how organs and cell types talk to one another, we are investigating cardiovascular biology, adipose tissue function, and pancreatic islet physiology.

Our team

The Lo lab is comprised of post-doctoral fellows, PhD students, medical students, and research technicians who are dedicated to performing high-quality research in a supportive team environment.
